Tuesday, October 29, 2019 (1pm~5pm) – Bus tour - Two Sites
MARR has arranged exclusive tours of two separate sites this year:
Site 1 – Located just outside of Winnipeg, Exner E-Waste Processing has been in operation since 2011 using advanced technology and processes to recover and recycle a wide range of electronic and non-electronic equipment. The company is a registered primary processor under the Electronics Product Stewardship Association’s Recycler Qualification Program. If you’ve ever wondered where all of those recycled TVs and computers go and how all that plastic and gadgetry gets process for recycling, you’ll want to check this place out.
Site 2 – The Forks, located at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine rivers in Winnipeg, has been a meeting place for over 6,000 years. The site has been transformed over the past 30 years and now hosts over 4 million visitors per year. Recognizing the environmental impact of all the waste generated by all those people, the Forks organization has set a target of “Zero Waste” and has implemented a number of innovative strategies to get there. Not every community hosts 4 million visitors per year, but every community has public spaces and can benefit to learn from a behind-the-scenes look into how the Forks deals with waste.
Oct 29, 2019 tour price: MARR Members: $40 per person; Non-Members: $60 per person

Full details and instructions will be sent to registered participants 1-2 weeks before the tour. (No outside vehicles will be allowed on this tour, you must be on the bus to participate.)
